General Summary:
The physician will deliver direct patient care in alignment with established protocols, practices, and standardized care guidelines.
In addition to the outlined responsibilities, candidates must fulfill the minimum criteria for medical staff privileges.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough physical examinations and document findings accurately and promptly.
Utilize and interpret relevant diagnostic tests (such as laboratory tests and imaging procedures pertinent to their specialty) and provide necessary referrals or consultations.
Engage in patient education and counseling to promote wellness, addressing health risk behaviors and providing resources.
Offer agreed-upon coverage for patient care in suitable settings (e.g., ambulatory office or hospital) during business hours and evenings/weekends, as mutually arranged and in accordance with medical staff bylaws.
Maintain and demonstrate the clinical, technical, and surgical skills for which they are credentialed.
Administer appropriate pharmacological treatments, considering patient age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interactions, and therapy duration to ensure quality care in dispensing both narcotic and non-narcotic medications.
Keep an updated Delaware medical license, CSR registration, and DEA license, including fulfilling continuing medical education (CME) requirements and maintaining appropriate Board certification.
Perform additional duties as assigned within the scope of job responsibilities.
Participate in departmental, organizational, and community committees or activities as appropriate.
Integrate new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, and professional literature into clinical practice.
Support and adhere to the organization's Physician Medical Staff Credo.
Contribute to medical knowledge by synthesizing new research and applying it to enhance healthcare practices.
Engage in and support the integrated continuum of patient care within the organization to improve care quality.
Foster a sense of community and commitment to collaboration, performance standards, and increasing patient referrals among medical staff members.
Build collegial and collaborative relationships with colleagues and staff.
Attend quarterly medical staff meetings, practice meetings, and other gatherings as requested by leadership.
Embrace and support the organization's strategic initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Required Education, Credentials, and Experience:
Education: Doctor of Medicine; Completed Residency; Board Certified/Board Eligible as per medical staff bylaws.
Credentials: Physician - Controlled Substance Registration; Physician MD; DEA Diversion Control Division; 45627; or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensure.
