Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current South Carolina teaching certificate with a Visual Impairment (VI) Endorsement
  • Experience supporting students with visual impairments in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, Braille instruction, and accessibility accommodations
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with staff, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and expanding opportunities for visually impaired learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an itinerant TVI across designated schools, managing a schedule of 35 hours per week
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and instructional plans tailored to each student’s needs
  • Assess student abilities and progress using appropriate tools and direct observation
  • Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, daily living skills, technology, orientation and mobility, and self-advocacy
  • Consult with classroom teachers and staff to ensure accessible curriculum and materials
  • Advocate for students’ needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate records, collect data, and write progress reports for each assigned student
