Position Summary

A hospital-based radiology department in Lewes, Delaware, is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging examinations while maintaining exceptional patient-care and radiation-safety standards.

The ideal candidate understands radiographic principles, anatomy, pathology, positioning, and imaging techniques and can adapt quickly when clinical or emergency conditions affect an examination.

Key Responsibilities
\n Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to established department protocols.
\n Select appropriate positioning and imaging techniques based on the requested examination and the patient’s condition.
\n Obtain relevant clinical history and verify examination orders before beginning procedures.
\n Explain procedures to patients and their families, answer questions, and help reduce anxiety.
\n Confirm patient identity and ensure images and records are accurately labeled.
\n Evaluate examinations for technical quality and correct errors when identified.
\n Recognize clinical or emergency conditions that may interfere with an examination and take appropriate action.
\n Follow ALARA principles and use proper collimation, shielding, and radiation-protection practices.
\n Maintain patient safety through appropriate monitoring, positioning, side-rail use, and equipment safeguards.
\n Operate radiographic and related imaging equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
\n Track patients and document procedures accurately within departmental systems.
\n Report and document unsafe, unusual, or adverse conditions.
\n Maintain clean, orderly, and fully stocked imaging rooms.
\n Monitor supplies and remove expired or soon-to-expire items from patient-care areas.
\n Participate in departmental meetings, training, in-services, and performance-improvement initiatives.
\n Assist with the education and training of radiography students when needed.
\n Remain current on technological developments and changes in radiologic imaging.
\n Requirements
\n Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
\n Active Delaware professional license.
\n Active Delaware radiation license.
\n Current Basic Life Support certification.
\n Strong understanding of radiographic principles, anatomy, pathology, positioning, and radiation safety.
\n Basic computer skills.
\n Ability to work variable eight-hour shifts.
\n Ability to participate in on-call, weekend, holiday, and alternate-shift coverage when required.
\n Strong communication, patient-care, and critical-thinking skills.
\n Preferred Qualifications
\n Recent Radiologic Technologist experience in a hospital setting.
\n Experience working with emergency, inpatient, and outpatient populations.
\n Experience using radiology information systems and digital imaging technology.
\n Previous experience assisting with the clinical education of radiography students.
