Mail Order Long Term Care Staff Pharmacist - Woonsocket, RI
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This role offers an opportunity to apply your pharmacy expertise in a dynamic setting focusing on long-term care and mail order services. The position operates Monday through Friday with day shifts primarily from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm, with occasional evening shifts one to two nights per week. This contract assignment spans 12 weeks with potential to convert to permanent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and detect overuse patterns.
- Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal regulations and prescriptions are appropriate.
- Maintain confidential patient records and manage pharmacy documentation.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and OTC medications including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on use and maintenance of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for internal and external use, preparing sterile solutions following protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and clerks to maintain efficient pharmacy operations.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related issues and collaborate effectively with healthcare providers.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist in Rhode Island.
- Prior pharmacy experience required.
- Experience in long-term care pharmacy highly preferred.
- Strong communication and supervisory skills.
Location: Woonsocket, Rhode Island
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Day shifts (9:30 am - 6:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm)
- 1 to 2 nights per week possible
