Job Description
Step into a rewarding role making a difference in students’ lives as an Occupational Therapist substitute covering a maternity leave. From August 24th through November 11th, provide vital support for elementary-aged learners and an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classroom. This contract opportunity offers you the flexibility and the chance to use your expertise in a dynamic, collaborative educational setting just outside Dearborn, MI.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility for licensure)
- Previous experience in a school-based OT role or with pediatric populations highly preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Ability to adapt OT interventions to varied developmental levels and needs
- Team-oriented mindset, collaborating closely with special education staff, teachers, and families
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students in both an elementary building and ECSE classroom, 2-3 days per week
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individualized interventions to promote student success and participation
- Monitor, document, and report on student progress, adjusting goals as needed
- Consult and collaborate with educators, service providers, and families to integrate strategies throughout the school day
- Support IEP development and attend pertinent meetings during the assignment
- Foster a positive and encouraging environment for students of varying abilities
