Focus your expertise on a resource room setting, serving dedicated middle school students in grades 6 through 8. Your work will take place onsite, running from August 28, 2026, to June 10, 2027. The schedule consists of 35-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. While full-time commitment is preferred to maintain consistency for students, part-time applicants with the appropriate credentials are also encouraged to apply.
Desired Background:
- Valid Maine certification with a 282 Endorsement in Special Education
- Previous experience or genuine interest in supporting middle school students with special needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with fellow educators and support staff
- Flexible and responsive teaching style, adapting to student IEPs and evolving classroom needs
- Capability to foster a positive, empowering, and inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to a small caseload of middle schoolers within a resource room
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Track student progress, adapt strategies, and document achievements
- Partner with general education teachers, parents, and allied staff to optimize student outcomes
- Participate in relevant meetings, training, and ongoing professional development
