\nDetroit Charter Company is seeking an experienced and professional *Captain *with sailing endorsement for HYDRA, a USCG-inspected small passenger vessel certified to carry up to 38 passengers. This role combines on-water command with shoreside operational oversight and is responsible for safety, compliance, crew leadership, and overall vessel readiness.\n

\nThe Captain plays a central role in maintaining inspection standards, managing seasonal maintenance, and setting the operational tone for a premium charter program operating seven days per week during peak season.\n

\n*Key Responsibilities*\n
\n
\n*Vessel Command & Safety*\n
\n
\n* Serve as Captain for a USCG-inspected small passenger vessel\n
\n* Safely operate the vessel during scheduled charters and events\n
\n* Ensure compliance with USCG regulations, COLREGS, and company policies\n
\n* Maintain a professional, guest-facing presence onboard\n
\n
\n*Crew Leadership*\n
\n
\n* Lead and supervise a three-person crew\n
\n* Conduct safety briefings, drills, and crew training\n
\n* Set standards for professionalism, readiness, and conduct\n
\n
\n*Regulatory Compliance & Inspections*\n
\n
\n* Manage USCG inspection readiness and documentation\n
\n* Coordinate and attend USCG inspections\n
\n* Maintain logs, certificates, and compliance records\n
\n* Act as primary liaison with USCG Sector Detroit\n
\n
\n*Maintenance & Seasonal Operations*\n
\n
\n* Oversee seasonal maintenance, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs\n
\n* Coordinate with vendors, yards, and service providers\n
\n* Support spring commissioning and fall winterization\n
\n* Identify maintenance needs and assist with planning and budgeting\n
\n
\n*Operational Coordination*\n
\n
\n* Work with management on scheduling, provisioning, and logistics\n
\n* Support special events and charter operations\n
\n* Provide operational input to improve safety and efficiency\n
\n
\n*Required Qualifications*\n
\n
\n* USCG 50-Ton Master License\n
\n* Sailing endorsement required\n
\n* Valid TWIC\n
\n* Current First Aid / CPR\n
\n* Ability to pass drug screening and background check\n
\n* Experience operating USCG-inspected passenger vessels\n
\n* Working knowledge of USCG inspection processes\n
\n
\n*Preferred Qualifications*\n

\n* Prior service as a Captain\n
\n* Great Lakes or Detroit River experience\n
\n* Experience with sailing yachts or performance sailboats\n
\n* Comfort working in a seasonal, guest-facing environment\n

\nPay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year\n
