Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Ridgefield, WA

Step into a rewarding role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as an itinerant teacher for a full-time contract position beginning August 25th. You will be covering a maternity leave for 10-12 weeks, providing valuable services to students across a district’s schools in the Vancouver, WA region. Travel between campuses each week is required, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams and impact students in a variety of educational settings.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid OSPI Certification with DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) endorsement.
• Demonstrated experience working with students using cochlear implants and hearing aids.
• Familiarity with FM systems and proficiency supporting both FM and ASL-using students.
• Ability to consult and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary educational teams, families, and school staff.
• Organizational skills and flexibility for an itinerant schedule, adapting to different school environments.
• Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible learning experiences for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in mainstream and specialized settings.
• Assess students’ needs, collaborate on IEP development, and implement individualized instructional strategies.
• Support classroom teachers and staff with accommodations, assistive technology, and communication methods.
• Advocate for students’ access to the curriculum through training and collaboration with faculty.
• Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and timely communication with educational teams and families.
