Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This pharmacist role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic long-term care and mail order environment providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services. The position is a 12-week contract with the possibility to transition to permanent employment, and includes weekday day shifts with the option for 1-2 night shifts per week. Flexible scheduling supports work-life balance while allowing for critical patient care contributions.
Location: Pawtucket, RI
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- Day shifts: 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM or 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
- 1 to 2 night shifts per week may be required
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with regulations
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns
- Ensure proper medication supply and legal compliance in dispensing
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with accuracy
- Provide medication counseling, including guidance on dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Educate patients on the use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
- Offer additional patient services including smoking cessation support and cholesterol management
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following strict protocols
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and clerical staff to ensure efficient operations
- Manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
- Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare professionals to resolve drug-related issues
Qualifications:
- Valid Rhode Island pharmacy license required
- Pharmacy experience with exposure to long-term care preferred
- Knowledge of mail order pharmacy operations is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
