Jewellery Specialist

Our client, a well-established auction house based in Birmingham, is seeking an experienced Jewellery Specialist to join it’s team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in fine jewellery who enjoys working with clients, valuing exceptional pieces and contributing to successful specialist auctions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct valuations for fine jewellery, diamonds, coloured gemstones and watches for auction, probate, insurance and private clients.
\n
• Catalogue jewellery accurately, producing descriptions.
\n
• Build and maintain relationships with private collectors, dealers, solicitors and other contacts.
\n
• Source consignments and help grow the department through business development.
\n
• Manage client enquiries and provide advice throughout the auction process.
\n
• Work alongside photographers and marketing teams to prepare catalogues and promo material.
\n
• Assist with auction viewings and represent the department during sale days.
\n
• Research provenance, designers, hallmarks and gemstones where required.
\n
• Ensure all items are handled, stored and documented in accordance with company procedures.

Key Skills:

\n
• Previous experience as a Jewellery Specialist, Jewellery Valuer or Jewellery Cataloguer within an auction house, jeweller or valuation practice.
\n
• Strong knowledge of fine jewellery, diamonds, coloured gemstones and precious metals.
\n
• Experience producing auction catalogue descriptions and valuations.
\n
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
\n
• Commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities to secure new consignments.
\n
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
