At Selwyn Hall School, we are looking for a dedicated One-to-One Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant community in Foxton, Cambridgeshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to support students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH) in a nurturing environment.

Located in beautiful private grounds, Selwyn Hall School provides specialist education for children aged 7-18 with various needs, including ASD, ADHD, and anxiety. Our small class sizes (4-6 pupils) ensure that every child receives the individual attention they deserve. With a focus on health and wellbeing, our facilities include:

Your Role and Responsibilities\n

As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:

    \n
  • Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six
  • \n
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons
  • \n
  • Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs
  • \n
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including school trips
  • \n
  • Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation
  • \n
  • Set and mark work as appropriate
  • \n
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to drive engagement and learning outcomes
  • \n
What We’re Looking For\n

To thrive in this role, you should have:

\n
    \n
  • A strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics
  • \n
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
  • \n
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting
  • \n
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities, such as food hygiene or forest school
  • \n
  • Skills in behaviour management and a commitment to professional development
  • \n
