Role: Employment Solicitor (2+ PQE)

Duncan Lewis Solicitors is seeking an ambitious and experienced Employment Solicitor to join our highly regarded Employment Department. Duties and responsibilities\n

As an Employment Solicitor, you will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of employment matters and providing high-quality legal advice to both employers and employees. Key responsibilities include:

  • Reporting directly to the Department Director.
  • \n
  • Managing all aspects of Employment Law matters from initial instruction through to conclusion.
  • \n
  • Assisting with casework including dealing with a range of Employment cases including all types of Discrimination claims; Unfair Dismissal; Redundancy; TUPE; negotiating Settlement Agreements, Mediation; Breach of Contract; Conduct matters and matters as well as undertaking your own advocacy
  • \n
  • Negotiating settlement agreements and participating in mediations.
  • \n
  • Conducting advocacy where appropriate.
  • \n
  • Attending client meetings, taking instructions and preparing cases.
  • \n
  • Providing technical guidance and support to junior team members when required.
  • \n
  • Managing an appropriate caseload and ensuring compliance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • \n
  • Maintaining accurate time recording and billing procedures.
  • \n
  • Handling correspondence and liaising with clients, tribunals, courts and third parties.
  • \n
  • Implementing recommendations arising from file reviews and audits.
  • \n
  • Ensuring compliance with file management procedures and best practice standards.
  • \n
  • Contributing to business development activities and supporting the growth of the department.
  • \n

Experience and qualifications\n

To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 2 years' technical experience in Employment Law.
  • \n
  • A valid and unrestricted Practising Certificate.
  • \n
  • Extensive experience managing Employment Law matters independently.
  • \n
  • Strong working knowledge of Employment Tribunal procedures and privately funded employment work.
  • \n
  • Experience advising on contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • \n
  • Previous supervisory experience and an ability to work towards key performance indicators.
  • \n
  • Experience undertaking advocacy, which would be advantageous.
  • \n
  • Excellent client care skills and the ability to handle sensitive and complex matters professionally.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building and networking skills.
  • \n
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to business development and client acquisition.
  • \n
  • The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and take initiative.
  • \n
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems.
