Job Description

Senior Product Manager – Internal Business Systems (Contract)

\n

\n

Manchester (Hybrid – 2 days/week) | Internal Platforms & Systems | Legacy Transformation

\n

\n

We're looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to join a major platform transformation programme, replacing a 20+ year-old legacy system used to plan, schedule and manage advertising operations.

\n

Working with two engineering squads, you'll own a core product value stream, partnering closely with Engineering and Service Design to simplify complex operational workflows, prioritise effectively and deliver measurable improvements for internal users.

\n

This is not a consumer product or growth role. It's an opportunity to modernise a business-critical internal platform used by operational teams every day.

\n

What you'll be doing

\n
    \n
  • Own discovery, prioritisation and delivery for a key product value stream.
  • \n
  • Map and improve complex operational workflows.
  • \n
  • Work closely with two engineering squads to deliver incremental improvements.
  • \n
  • Balance competing priorities across Product, Engineering and business stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Drive adoption and improve efficiency through user-centred product decisions.
  • \n
\n

Essential experience

\n
    \n
  • Proven experience as a Product Manager or Senior Product Manager.
  • \n
  • Must have delivered at least one complex internal, back-office or operational platform (e.g. planning, scheduling, workflow, ERP, CRM or finance systems).
  • \n
  • Experience building B2B or enterprise products rather than predominantly consumer-facing apps.
  • \n
  • Strong backlog management and prioritisation skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent stakeholder management across technical and business teams.
  • \n
  • Comfortable working with engineering teams building modern cloud-native or microservices-based platforms.
  • \n
\n

Desirable

\n
    \n
  • Experience replacing or modernising legacy systems.
  • \n
  • Planning, scheduling or workflow platform experience.
  • \n
  • Media, advertising or publishing experience (not essential).
  • \n
\n

This role is unlikely to be the right fit if your experience is mainly in:

\n
    \n
  • Consumer mobile apps or e-commerce.
  • \n
  • Growth, acquisition or marketing products.
  • \n
  • Product roles without ownership of complex internal platforms.
  • \n
\n

If you enjoy solving operational problems, working closely with engineering and delivering products that improve how people work every day, we'd love to hear from you.
