Head of Legal, Leading Insurer

The Client:

A leading insurance firm are looking for a 10+PQE* insurance generalist lawyer to lead their legal team.

This is an exceptional opportunity to take on a strategically important leadership role within a highly respected business. You will work alongside a high calibre executive team, influence key business decisions and play a central role in shaping the organisation's future growth and success.

The successful candidate will be a trusted adviser to the Executive Team, partnering closely with underwriting, claims, compliance, risk, finance and operations colleagues across the business.

Key Responsibilities

This is a high profile role with responsibility for overseeing all UK legal matters, providing strategic legal advice to senior stakeholders, and supporting the business in delivering its growth objectives within a highly regulated environment.

You will:

• Lead and manage the UK legal function, providing pragmatic and commercial legal advice across the syndicate.
\n
• Support the business on strategic projects, transactions and new product development.
\n
• Provide legal guidance on UK insurance regulation, including matters relating to Lloyd's, the FCA and PRA.
\n
• Oversee contentious and non-contentious legal matters, managing external counsel where appropriate.
\n
• Advise on corporate governance, board matters and regulatory engagements.
\n
• Partner closely with compliance and risk teams to ensure effective management of legal and regulatory risk.
\n
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting the London Market and broader insurance sector.

Qualifications:

\n
• The ideal candidate will be a 10+ PQE* insurance lawyer, preferably with experience in a law firm, or insurance firm.
\n
• Lloyd's markets experience is a prerequisite
\n
• Proven ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders.
\n
• Commercially astute, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
\n

*Candidates outside this PQE range with the prerequisite experience would be considered for this role.
