Science Technician

Start Date: September 2026Contract: Full-Time, TemporaryDuration: Long-Term AssignmentPay: Competitive hourly rate, depending on experienceA secondary school in Nottingham is seeking a reliable Science Technician to join their Science Department on a temporary basis. Working through Hays Education, you'll play a key role in preparing resources and supporting practical science teaching across all key disciplines. Key Duties:

• Prepare and set up equipment for science lessons and practical activities.
\n
• Support teachers with experiments and demonstrations.
\n
• Maintain, clean and test laboratory equipment.
\n
• Monitor and replenish science stock and resources.
\n
• Ensure laboratories remain safe and compliant.
\n
• Store and dispose of chemicals in line with procedures.
\n
• Assist with risk assessments and departmental records.
\n
• Provide general administrative support to the Science Department.
\n

Requirements:

\n
• Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience desirable.
\n
• Science-related qualifications beneficial.
\n
• Understanding of laboratory health and safety practices.
\n
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
\n
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
\n
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
\n
