\nAbout the Role
\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Transport to join a rapidly growing, family-owned business with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional customer service.
\nThis is a key leadership position where you'll take full responsibility for the transport operation, leading a team of approximately 30 employees and driving operational excellence across the department. You'll play a pivotal role in developing people, improving performance and implementing strategic initiatives to support continued business growth.

\nKey Responsibilities

- Lead, motivate and develop a transport team of approximately 30 employees. \n
- Manage the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring vehicles and customer orders are planned and delivered efficiently. \n
- Drive continuous improvement across productivity, service levels and operational performance. \n
- Monitor and manage transport budgets, forecasts and operating costs. \n
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, health & safety and company procedures. \n
- Oversee transport planning, fleet utilisation and third-party logistics providers. \n
- Work closely with warehouse and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment. \n
- Review departmental performance through KPIs and implement improvements where required. \n
- Support strategic business projects and operational change initiatives. \n
- Develop and improve transport processes and routing systems. \n
- Build strong working relationships across all departments and with external stakeholders. \n
- Support senior leadership with operational planning and business objectives. \n
About You
\nWe're looking for a hands-on, commercially aware transport leader who enjoys developing teams and improving operational performance.
\nTo be successful you will have:
\n- \n
- Previous experience in a Head of Transport, Transport Manager or Senior Transport Operations role. \n
- Strong leadership experience managing large transport teams, including supervisors and first-line managers. \n
- Extensive knowledge of transport operations, distribution and fleet management. \n
- Experience within food distribution, FMCG or a fast-paced logistics environment would be highly advantageous. \n
- Excellent understanding of transport compliance, health & safety and operational best practice. \n
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and controlling operational costs. \n
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers and courier networks. \n
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills. \n
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify efficiencies and implement positive change. \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. \n
