South West London|£45,000 per annum | 47.5 hrs per week

A leading independent school in South West London is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, compliance, and development of an educational estate.

\n

The Opportunity

\n

You will play a key role in ensuring school facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. This is a diverse role combining operational facilities management, health and safety compliance, contractor management, and hands-on maintenance support.

Key Responsibilities

    \n
  • Lead and manage estates maintenance activities across multiple sites
  • \n
  • Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations including fire safety, asbestos, legionella, COSHH, and risk assessments
  • \n
  • Manage planned and reactive maintenance programmes
  • \n
  • Oversee contractors and supplier performance, ensuring value for money and service excellence
  • \n
  • Monitor facilities helpdesk requests and coordinate resolution of maintenance issues
  • \n
  • Support health and safety inspections, audits, and reporting
  • \n
  • Manage cleaning, security, waste, grounds, and other property-related services
  • \n
  • Assist with site preparations for school events and activities
  • \n
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for staff, pupils, and visitors
  • \n

About You

We are looking for a proactive facilities professional who combines technical knowledge with excellent organisational and communication skills.

\n

Essential Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Experience within facilities management, estates, maintenance, or property services
  • \n
  • Practical knowledge of building maintenance including areas such as plumbing, carpentry, decorating, or general repairs
  • \n
  • Experience managing contractors and planned works
  • \n
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
  • \n
  • Budget management experience
  • \n
  • Strong IT and administrative skills
  • \n
  • Full UK driving licence
  • \n

Desirable

  • Previous experience within a school or education environment
  • \n
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • \n
\n
