Job Description
The Aria Group Mental Health Services, LLC is seeking compassionate, motivated, and dependable Mental Health Skill Building (MHSS) Counselors to join our growing team. This position provides community-based mental health services to adults with serious mental illness, helping them develop the skills necessary to live independently and improve their overall quality of life.
\nAs a Mental Health Skill Building Counselor, you will work one-on-one with clients in their homes and throughout the community to teach daily living skills, promote recovery, and connect individuals with community resources. \nResponsibilities
\n- \n
- Provide Mental Health Skill Building services in clients' homes and community settings. \n
- Assist clients in developing and maintaining independent living skills, including: \n
- \n
- Personal hygiene and self-care \n
- Medication management and appointment compliance \n
- Budgeting and money management \n
- Meal planning and preparation \n
- Household organization and cleaning \n
- Time management and daily routines \n
- Community integration and accessing local resources \n
\n - Implement individualized service plans and monitor client progress toward treatment goals. \n
- Teach and reinforce healthy coping skills, communication techniques, problem-solving, and emotional regulation. \n
- Coordinate care with psychiatrists, therapists, case managers, primary care providers, family members, and other community partners. \n
- Complete documentation, progress notes, and required assessments accurately and within agency timelines. \n
- Maintain compliance with Virginia Medicaid, DBHDS, and agency policies and procedures. \n
- Participate in supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing training opportunities. \n
- Respond professionally and appropriately to crisis situations while following agency protocols. \n
Qualifications
\nRequired:
\n- \n
- Registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or QMHP-Trainee (QMHP-T) . \n
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field. \n
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance. \n
- Ability to pass all required background screenings. \n
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills. \n
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team. \n
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic documentation. \n
Preferred:

- Experience providing community-based behavioral health services. \n
- Experience working with adults experiencing serious mental illness. \n
- Knowledge of person-centered planning, crisis intervention, and recovery-oriented care. \n
