This is a long-term modernization initiative where bringing a vendor-owned POS platform in-house. The project is approximately halfway through a multi-year migration effort, and the team is looking for a highly experienced native Android engineer who can contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up time. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building and enhancing enterprise-grade Android applications, integrating with backend services and POS hardware, and helping drive architectural improvements as the platform evolves from XML-based UI toward Jetpack Compose. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin and Java. Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performance mobile solutions for enterprise POS systems. Work with Android 11 and Android 13 environments and ensure compatibility across supported devices. Develop features using XML-based UI, while contributing to the ongoing migration to Jetpack Compose. Implement Clean Architecture / MVVM principles and Android best practices. Integrate Android applications with RESTful APIs and backend services. Work with RXJava and Coroutines for asynchronous programming and reactive workflows. Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and QA teams in an Agile/Scrum environment. Track work using Jira, participate in sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and release planning. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and maintain high code quality through unit testing and code reviews. Troubleshoot performance issues, hardware integrations, and production defects.
