Role Summary
Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Folder Gluer Operator for a direct hire opportunity in Bolingbrook, IL. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining folder gluer equipment used to convert printed sheets into finished folding cartons. The ideal candidate has experience with high-speed gluing equipment, performs complete machine setups, leads production crews, maintains quality standards, and helps maximize machine uptime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
️ Qualifications & Skills
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years operating Folder Gluer machines
- Experience in folding carton, printing, packaging, or converting manufacturing
- strong mechanical aptitude
- Experience performing machine setups and make-readies
- Ability to troubleshoot production and mechanical issues
- Ability to read production schedules and job tickets
- strong communication skills in English
- Ability to lead and work effectively with production crews
Preferred
- Bobst, Signature, Vega, or similar folder gluer experience
- Prior Lead Operator or Crew Leader experience
- Knowledge of SQF, GMP, HACCP, and food packaging requirements
- Continuous Improvement or Lean Manufacturing experience
Physical & Work Environment
- Stand and walk throughout 12-hour shifts
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and handling materials
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Steel toe shoes required
- Hearing protection required in designated areas
- Follow all PPE, Lockout/Tagout, SQF, GMP, food safety, and housekeeping requirements

Responsibilities
Bobst Folder Gluer Operator | Folding Carton & Packaging Production
- Set up and operate folder gluer equipment for production jobs
- Perform complete machine make-readies including:
- Feeder setup
- Pre-fold section adjustments
- Folding section adjustments
- Delivery section setup
- Glue system setup and verification
- Belt speed, guide, backstop, and compression adjustments
- Read production schedules, job tickets, work orders, and customer specifications
- Verify glue patterns, adhesion, folding specifications, scoring, packing, and labeling requirements
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot jams, glue issues, misfeeds, and mechanical problems
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and basic equipment adjustments
- Complete production reports including:
- Production quantities
- Waste
- Downtime
- Job start/stop times
- Quality inspections
- Lead and support gluing crew members during daily production
- Maintain quality, efficiency, cleanliness, and SQF food safety standards
- Report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, and production concerns promptly
- Participate in shift handoffs and communicate production status to the next crew
