The Opportunity

Here is your chance to join the UK's largest recruitment business as an Employee Relations Manager in Nottingham. In this role, you will lead a team of ER Specialists and Coordinators, providing expert guidance across a broad range of employee relations matters while supporting key business initiatives and managing organisational risk. You will work closely with operational leaders, People Partners, Legal Counsel and the Head of Employee Relations to deliver commercially focused solutions, ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies, and drive positive people outcomes across the business. To thrive in this role, you'll be a confident people leader with extensive employee relations experience, excellent stakeholder management skills and a strong understanding of UK employment law. You'll be equally comfortable coaching managers through complex cases, analysing data to identify trends and leading high-profile external cases to successful conclusions.

What you'll do as an Employee Relations Manager

\n

\n

This role is all about leadership, influence and delivering expert employee relations support. You'll lead your team to provide an exceptional service while ensuring legal, reputational and commercial risks are effectively managed. This is an incredibly varied role which will undoubtedly keep you on your toes. Below is just a selection of what you can expect:

  • Leading and developing a team of ER Specialists and Coordinators, ensuring cases are managed consistently and effectively to completion.
  • \n
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to managers on all aspects of employee relations, company policy and employment legislation.
  • \n
  • Managing complex and high-risk employee relations cases, ensuring legal, reputational and commercial risks are appropriately considered.
  • \n
  • Taking ownership of ACAS conciliations, Employment Tribunal claims, HMRC disputes and money claim or small claims court cases.
  • \n
  • Working closely with Legal Counsel and the Head of Employee Relations to determine case strategy and achieve successful outcomes.
  • \n
  • Coaching, supporting and challenging stakeholders to effectively manage a wide range of people management scenarios.
  • \n
  • Monitoring legislative developments and advising the business on the impact of employment law changes.
  • \n
  • Supporting the development and enhancement of employee relations policies, procedures and approaches.
  • \n
  • Analysing ER data and trends to identify opportunities for training, policy improvements and proactive interventions.
  • \n
  • Working collaboratively with Learning & Development and People Partners to create and deliver people management and ER training.
  • \n
  • Building strong relationships with operational leaders, managers and support function colleagues.
  • \n
  • Leading on compliance with company policies and influencing managers to follow appropriate processes and procedures.
  • \n
  • Ensuring accurate employee records are maintained in line with GDPR and audit requirements.
  • \n
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to improve policy, process and the overall colleague experience.

What we need from you…

  • Significant experience in Employee Relations, HR Advisory or HR Business Partnering within a fast-paced environment.
  • \n
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • \n
  • Experience managing complex employee relations cases and advising senior stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Previous leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop and motivate a team.
  • \n
  • Experience managing ACAS conciliations, Employment Tribunals and other external employment-related disputes.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the confidence to challenge constructively where required.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret ER trends and use data to drive decision making.
  • \n
  • Ability to balance commercial considerations with legal and reputational risk.
  • \n
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • \n
