Safety Consultant – Defence & National Security Location: UK wide / HybridSecurity Clearance: SC eligible minimumWe are seeking Safety Consultants at multiple levels to support high-profile Defence and National Security programmes. This is an opportunity to provide expert system safety advice across complex, safety-critical environments working with MOD, DE&S, prime contractors, and Defence partners.The role You will deliver through-life safety support across the project lifecycle, including:Hazard identification and analysis (HAZID, FHA, FTA)Risk assessment and ALARP justificationHazard management and safety assuranceSafety case development and reviewTechnical documentation and assurance evidenceParticipation in safety reviews, working groups, and assurance boardsDepending on experience, you may also mentor junior consultants and contribute to bids and customer engagements.What we're looking for EssentialEngineering qualification (Level 4 or above)Experience in system safety engineering within Defence, aerospace, nuclear, transport, or another high-integrity industryStrong understanding of hazard analysis, risk management, safety cases, and safety assuranceKnowledge of UK safety legislation, standards, and regulatory frameworksExcellent stakeholder communication skillsEligible for UK Security Clearance (SC minimum)DesirableMOD / DE&S programme experienceConsultancy backgroundFront Line Command (Air, Land, or Maritime) experienceKnowledge of software safety, reliability, human factors, environmental safety, or cyber safetyWorking towards IEng registrationWhy apply?
