Mechanical Inspector 📍 Poole, Dorset 💰 Competitive Salary + Benefits 🛡️ Defence Manufacturing Sector We're working with a leading defence manufacturer in Poole that is looking to strengthen its Quality team with the appointment of a Mechanical Inspector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation delivering critical products into the naval and defence sectors while working with cutting-edge inspection and measurement technologies. If you're experienced in precision engineering, quality inspection, and working from engineering drawings, this role offers a varied environment where you'll play a key part in ensuring the highest manufacturing standards are maintained. The Role As a Mechanical Inspector, you'll be responsible for verifying the quality and dimensional accuracy of manufactured components and assemblies throughout the production process. Key responsibilities include: '05; Inspecting machined, fabricated, assembled and surface-treated components using advanced inspection equipment, including 3D scanning technology. '05; Carrying out First Article Inspections (FAIRs) using CMM measurement systems (training available where required). '05; Reviewing mechanical assemblies against engineering drawings, specifications and bills of materials. '05; Supporting manufacturing teams with in-process and final inspections. '05; Conducting supplier inspections when required. '05; Participating in root cause investigations and continuous improvement activities to improve quality performance. '05; Recording inspection results and maintaining accurate quality documentation. '05; Assisting with the generation of First Article Inspection Reports. '05; Supporting the wider Quality team and stepping into a lead capacity when needed. What We're Looking For Previous experience within a Mechanical Inspection or Quality Inspection role. Background in precision manufacturing, engineering, defence, aerospace, or similar regulated industries. Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings. Experience using inspection equipment such as micrometers, Verniers, gauges and other metrology tools. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality. Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider manufacturing team. Experience with CMMs, 3D scanning, or advanced inspection methods would be advantageous but is not essential.
