Head of Finance

Reed Finance are delighted to be partnering with a large and complex organisation to recruit a Head of Financial Accounting.

This is a key leadership role within the finance function, responsible for leading financial accounting and transaction processing teams while ensuring the delivery of high-quality statutory reporting, financial control, compliance and technical accounting expertise.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will play a critical role in supporting strategic decision-making, maintaining robust financial governance and driving continuous improvement across finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Financial Accounting and Transaction Processing functions.
\n
• Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory returns.
\n
• Provide expert technical accounting guidance on complex financial matters.
\n
• Ensure robust financial controls, compliance and governance arrangements are in place.
\n
• Manage relationships with external auditors and specialist advisers.
\n
• Support strategic financial planning and corporate reporting activities.
\n
• Drive process improvement initiatives and enhance financial systems and controls.
\n
• Partner with senior leaders across the organisation to provide commercial and financial insight.
\n

About You

\n
• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
\n
• Significant experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting and financial control.
\n
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to interpret complex accounting issues.
\n
• Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing finance teams.
\n
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
\n
• Experience working within a large, complex organisation.
\n
• Knowledge of charity, public sector or not-for-profit accounting environments would be advantageous.
