Group Management Accountant
Job Description
Group Management Accountant | Tunbridge Wells / Hybrid Working | Paying £50k - £65k DOE
\nLocation: Tunbridge Wells
\nSalary: £50k - £65k
\nContract: Permanent, full-time
\nThe opportunity
\nWe are recruiting a Group Management Accountant on behalf of a well-established international retail group with a growing global e-commerce operation.
\nThis is a broad, hands-on role for a part-qualified or newly qualified accountant who wants genuine ownership rather than a narrow slice of the month-end process. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will produce the group's management accounts, own indirect tax compliance, and act as a key contact through the annual audit — while working closely with FP&A and budget holders across the business.
\nIt suits someone who enjoys pace, variety and being close to commercial decision-making.
\nWhat you'll be doing
\n- \n
- Delivering accurate, timely monthly management accounts and financial reporting \n
- Preparing variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast and prior year \n
- Supporting FP&A with annual budgets, forecasts and periodic reforecasts \n
- Partnering with budget holders to provide financial information and improve the accuracy of planning \n
- Producing cost centre reporting, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities \n
- Supporting year-end close, ensuring information is complete, accurate and on time \n
- Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations and contributing to a strong control environment \n
- Preparing audit schedules and working papers, acting as a key contact during the external audit \n
- Owning group VAT, sales tax and indirect tax compliance, ensuring returns are accurate and submitted within statutory deadlines \n
- Driving continuous improvement across reporting, processes, controls and systems \n
What we're looking for
\n- \n
- Part-qualified fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA \n
- Experience as a Management Accountant, Group Accountant or in a similar finance role \n
- Exposure to budgeting and forecasting \n
- An understanding of group reporting and consolidation \n
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing supporting schedules \n
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns, with a good grasp of indirect tax compliance \n
- A positive, adaptable approach — someone who takes the initiative, spots improvements and supports colleagues in a fast-paced environment \n
What success looks like
\nA clean, timely month-end close. Management accounts and commentary the business trusts. Budget and forecast submissions delivered to timetable. A clean audit with minimal control issues. Strong relationships with FP&A and budget holders.
\nWhat's on offer
\n- \n
- £50k - £65k \n
- Hybrid / flexible working arrangement \n
