Commercial Account Executive
Job Description
Job Title: Commercial Insurance Account Executive
\nLocation: Bridgend – hybrid working considered
\nSalary: Competitive, dependent on experience and existing book, plus performance bonus
\nBenefits: Private Medical Insurance, Pension Scheme, Career Progression
\n\nAbout the Company:
\nAn independent, relationship-led insurance brokerage is expanding its commercial team in South Wales.
\nThe business supports a broad range of SME and corporate clients and has access to an extensive insurer market. Its team places business through Acturis, e-trade platforms and manually negotiated markets, giving Account Executives the flexibility to find appropriate solutions without being restricted to a narrow panel.
\n\nRole Summary:
\nYou will focus primarily on developing new business, with a consistent flow of opportunities available for you to progress. You will take ownership of the sales process, build relationships with prospective clients and work with insurers to secure suitable commercial insurance solutions.
\nAlongside new business development, there will be scope to build your own portfolio and gradually absorb selected existing clients as a senior Account Executive approaches retirement. Candidates with an existing or portable book are welcomed, although this is not essential. The role can be shaped around the successful person’s experience, market knowledge and existing client relationships.
\n\nKey Responsibilities:
\n• New Business Development: Progress incoming opportunities and identify new prospects, giving you a strong platform from which to grow a portfolio.
\n• Client Relationships: Understand each client’s business and risk profile, allowing you to provide relevant and commercially informed advice.
\n• Portfolio Growth: Build and manage a profitable book of commercial clients, creating long-term earning and development potential.
\n• Market Placement: Negotiate with insurers across e-trade and manual markets, giving you greater freedom to secure suitable terms.
\n• Renewal and Retention: Protect and develop established relationships in a competitive market, strengthening the value of your portfolio.
\n• Client Transition: Work alongside experienced Account Executives during a planned retirement transition, providing continuity and support to inherited clients.
\n\nRequirements:
\n• Strong commercial insurance and broking knowledge
\n• Experience developing new business and managing a commercial pipeline
\n• Ability to build trusted relationships with SME or corporate clients
\n• Strong insurer and underwriter negotiation skills
\n• Confidence managing competing opportunities and client priorities
\n• Motor trade, fleet, agriculture, property or charity-sector knowledge would be advantageous
\n\nIf this role isn’t quite right, it’s still worth speaking to one of our specialist team — we may be working on something that hasn’t hit the market yet.
