Reed further education is working with a college in Cambridge are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Sports Centre Assistant to join a busy sports and fitness facility on a part-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Fitness Instructor who enjoys working in a varied role, supporting gym users, delivering fitness classes, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of a sports centre.

  • Salary £24,577 - £25,192 per annum (pro rata) plus excellent staff benefits.

  • Working Hours 12 hours per week Tuesday and Friday 4:00pm to 10:30pm

The RoleAs a Sports Centre Assistant, you will be a key member of the team, providing a welcoming environment for students, staff, and members of the public while maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

\n
    \n
  • Deliver fitness classes to a range of users.
  • \n
  • Conduct gym inductions and tours.
  • \n
  • Supervise gym users and promote safe use of equipment.
  • \n
  • Set up, dismantle, and store sports equipment safely.
  • \n
  • Carry out front-of-house and reception duties.
  • \n
  • Assist with fitness and sports promotions.
  • \n
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and cleanliness.
  • \n
  • Undertake routine facility checks and building patrols.
  • \n
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • \n
\n

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Level 2 Fitness Instructor or Gym Qualification.
  • \n
  • Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • \n
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • \n
  • A reliable, flexible, and professional approach.
  • \n
  • Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • \n
\n

Desirable

\n
    \n
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • \n
  • Experience within a sports, leisure, or fitness environment.
  • \n
  • Experience delivering fitness classes.
  • \n
  • Additional fitness qualifications such as Circuits, Boxfit, or Studio Cycling.
  • \n
