Our client, The UK's Largest Land Manager is seeking an Asset Engineer to help manage and improve a unique portfolio of civil engineering infrastructure across the nation's forests.

This is not a traditional asset management role.

You'll take responsibility for a diverse range of infrastructure including bridges, dams, reservoirs, culverts, retaining structures and access networks that support some of England's most treasured landscapes.

It's a role that combines technical engineering, site inspections, project delivery, asset management and stakeholder engagement. You'll spend time out on site assessing assets, identifying improvement opportunities and seeing work delivered first-hand, while also helping shape longer-term investment programmes.

Importantly, you don't need extensive experience of bridges or reservoir engineering.

What's far more important is a solid civil engineering foundation, an understanding of construction and project delivery, and the enthusiasm to learn. Our client can provide the support and exposure needed to help you develop specialist knowledge in these areas.

What you'll be doing...

You'll help deliver Forestry England's Asset Management Plan, ensuring critical infrastructure remains safe, compliant and fit for purpose.Key responsibilities include:

• Inspecting and monitoring the condition of bridges, dams, reservoirs and other civil engineering assets
\n
• Identifying maintenance requirements and developing improvement programmes
\n
• Managing minor civil engineering projects from concept through to completion
\n
• Producing drawings, specifications and design details
\n
• Managing contractors and consultants during project delivery
\n
• Supporting long-term investment planning and asset management strategies
\n
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, regulators and external partners
\n
• Promoting safe delivery of works and supporting CDM compliance
\n
• Helping implement Forestry England's long-term reservoir management strategy
\n

Who we're looking for?

This role would suit a Civil Engineer from a consultancy, contractor, local authority or client-side background who enjoys solving problems and taking ownership of projects.You don't need years of experience managing bridges or reservoirs. We're much more interested in engineers who can demonstrate:

• Civil engineering or construction project experience
\n
• Understanding of CDM and safe project delivery
\n
• Experience working with contractors, consultants or stakeholders
\n
• An interest in asset management and infrastructure maintenance
\n
• Strong communication and organisational skills
\n
• A practical approach to problem-solving
\n
• The motivation to develop specialist knowledge and responsibilities
\n
• Experience with AutoCAD, GIS, inspections, NEC contracts or asset management would be beneficial, but not essential.
