Job Description

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing goods, managing supplier relationships, and driving value across key spend areas. Alongside day-to-day purchasing and order management, the role will lead negotiations, supplier performance monitoring, and end-to-end procurement activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier onboarding.
  • \n
  • Develop sourcing strategies, lead supplier negotiations, and deliver best value across cost, quality, and service.
  • \n
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships, monitor performance, and mitigate supply chain risks through effective category management.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure material availability, resolve supply issues, and support production requirements.
  • \n
  • Drive inventory optimisation through demand planning, stock analysis, and accurate ERP data management.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with quality, audit, health & safety, and procurement governance standards while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Profile

\n

Key responsibilities include:

\n
    \n
  • 2+ years' experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, ideally within a manufacturing or regulated environment but not essential.
  • \n
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience beneficial.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to use Excel for reporting, data analysis, and decision-making.
  • \n
  • Effective communicator and negotiator with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders and suppliers.
  • \n
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • \n
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) preferred, with a collaborative approach and strong team-working skills.

Job Offer

On offer to the candidate:

  • Salary ranging from £38,000 to £45,000 (dependent on the level of experience) plus package.
  • \n
  • Permanent position in an industry-leading business.

  • Hybrid working (3 days pw from Portsmouth office).
