We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our Transport Operations team. This role involves servicing and repairing vehicles and plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and economic manner, employing advanced skills and knowledge with due regard to current technical and health & safety legislation.

Day-to-day of the role:

\n
• Carry out a full range of technical checks and diagnostic tests on heavy goods and passenger transport vehicles.
\n
• Perform routine inspections, service, and MOT of all vehicles and selected plant in the fleet according to schedules issued by the Workshop Manager.
\n
• Report on mechanical and electrical vehicle components or systems defects, or impending failures.
\n
• Carry out both mechanical and electrical repairs and/or adjustments as required under the instruction of the Senior Mechanic/Workshop Manager.
\n
• Maintain a personal toolkit, special tools, and equipment in a good, safe, secure condition.
\n
• Keep accurate records such as time sheets, work sheets, electronic records, and accident occurrence forms in accordance with policies and compliance procedures.
\n
• Implement workshop schedules and loading to achieve maximum productivity as directed by the Workshop Manager.
\n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

\n
• City & Guilds Qualified Technician.
\n
• Experience in all aspects of heavy, light, and passenger vehicle repair and maintenance.
\n
• Fleet workshop or garage experience.
\n
• Valid UK Driving License.
\n
• Willingness to work outside of normal working hours on a rota basis.
\n
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
\n
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
\n
