Job Description
Our client is a global leader in engineering and manufacturing, delivering specialist process equipment and engineering solutions across a range of industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Service Technician to join their team based in Congleton.
\nThis is a field-based role requiring extensive travel throughout the UK, with occasional travel across Europe. The successful candidate should expect to work away from home from Monday morning to Friday afternoon on a regular basis, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered.
The Role\nAs a Service Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out the maintenance, servicing, repair and installation of specialist industrial plant equipment at customer sites throughout the UK. This is a hands-on role involving mechanical fitting, fault finding and preventative maintenance, ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Carry out mechanical maintenance, servicing and repairs on industrial plant equipment. \n
- Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM), inspections and breakdown repairs. \n
- Dismantle machinery for cleaning, inspection and replacement of worn or damaged components. \n
- Reassemble, install and commission equipment following maintenance or repair work. \n
- Travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional visits to Europe. \n
- Assist with equipment installation, commissioning and on-site fault finding. \n
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records. \n
- Communicate professionally with customers and internal departments. \n
- Assist with stock control and spare parts management at the Congleton facility. \n
- Work safely within industrial environments while following company health and safety procedures. \n
- Undertake physically demanding work, including lifting, dismantling and handling heavy mechanical components. \n
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Previous experience as a Service Technician, Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer or in a similar mechanical engineering role. \n
- Strong mechanical fitting and industrial maintenance experience. \n
- Experience servicing, repairing and fault finding on industrial machinery. \n
- Previous experience within the water, gas, process, manufacturing, energy or nuclear sectors would be highly advantageous. \n
- Experience working with industrial pipework and associated mechanical equipment. \n
- A practical approach to diagnosing faults and identifying effective solutions. \n
- The flexibility to work away from home throughout the working week. \n
- A full UK driving licence. \n
- Excellent communication and customer service skills. \n
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a small engineering team. \n
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves manual handling and physically demanding activities. \n

- £31,000–£35,000 DOE \n
- Field-based role with nationwide travel \n
- Monday to Friday, 43-hour working week \n
- Typical off-site working hours:\n

- Monday to Thursday: 7:00am – 5:00pm \n
- Friday: 7:00am – Early Afternoon \n
