Job Description
Are you an experienced Health and Safety Advisor, HSE Advisor, SHE Advisor or EHS Advisor with a background in energy from waste, biomass, power generation, utilities or heavy industrial operations ?You will work closely with the Operations Director, Plant Management Team and Group Head of Health and Safety, taking ownership of day-to-day safety activity across the facility.The role will see you promote behavioural safety, support ISO 45001, lead incident investigations and help embed a proactive culture of continuous improvement among employees and contractors.Whats in it for you?Permanent, full-time positionKey role within a busy operational energy facilityGenuine ownership of site health and safety performanceDirect access to senior operational and Group safety leadersOpportunity to influence behavioural safety and site cultureInvolvement in the continuing development of ISO 45001 systemsVaried role covering operations, contractors, audits, investigations and planned outagesThe Health and Safety Advisor roleWorking as part of the site management team, you will:Act as the principal site contact for health and safety advice and complianceSupport the Operations Director with legislative, Group and site safety requirementsPromote a proactive and continuously improving safety cultureDevelop, implement and review health and safety policies and proceduresSupport the implementation and ongoing management of ISO 45001Lead internal audits, inspections and workplace assessmentsMonitor site safety performance and identify areas for improvementProduce regular reports for the Plant Manager, Operations Director and Group Health and Safety teamChair the site Health and Safety CommitteeRepresent the facility at Group health and safety forumsLead incident and near-miss investigationsComplete root-cause analysis and communicate lessons learnedMonitor corrective and preventative actions through to completionReview contractor competence and safety documentationMonitor compliance with RAMS, permits and site proceduresDeliver and oversee site health and safety inductionsSupport incident-management and emergency-response arrangementsLiaise with contractors, clients and relevant external or regulatory bodiesParticipate in daily operational and outage-planning meetingsPlanned outagesDuring planned plant outages, you will play an important role within the outage-management team.Your responsibilities will include:Developing and gaining approval for the outage health and safety planSupporting CDM arrangements and complianceAuditing permits, risk assessments and method statementsConducting site inspections, investigations and safety surveillanceAttending outage meetings and advising operational teamsAgreeing arrangements for out-of-hours health and safety supportProducing detailed health and safety summaries for outage reportsTo be considered for this opportunity, you should have:A minimum NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and SafetyPrevious health and safety experience in energy from waste, biomass, electricity generation, power generation, utilities or a comparable heavy industrial environmentStrong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and recognised best practiceKnowledge of relevant ISO management standards, ideally including ISO 45001Experience completing workplace audits, inspections and risk assessmentsPractical incident-investigation and root-cause-analysis experienceExperience monitoring contractors, RAMS, permits and safe systems of workTPBN1_UKTJ
