Location: Peterborough |Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm

Our client is a well-established and growing business within the industrial sector and is seeking an Operations Support Assistant to join their small friendly and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a varied, hands-on role that combines administration, customer service, stock control and operational support. The successful candidate will receive full training on the company's systems, products and procedures, with the opportunity to gain industry-recognised qualifications and develop a long-term career within the business. Initially, the role will focus on supporting office operations and learning the company's bespoke systems. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will become involved in all areas of the business, gaining exposure to stock management, order fulfilment, customer service and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing customer orders and bookings
  • \n
  • Producing and sending customer quotations
  • \n
  • Creating delivery notes, certificates and other customer documentation
  • \n
  • Updating and maintaining accurate records on internal systems
  • \n
  • Handling customer enquiries via telephone and email
  • \n
  • Supporting the day-to-day administration and running of the business
  • \n
  • Learning the company's product range, stock codes and internal processes
  • \n
  • Developing a strong understanding of products to assist customers effectively
  • \n
  • Accurately identifying products and components for customer orders
  • \n
  • Booking stock in and out of the system
  • \n
  • Assisting with stock control and inventory management
  • \n
  • Monitoring stock levels and highlighting shortages
  • \n
  • Conducting regular stock checks and supporting stock takes
  • \n
  • Preparing, picking and packing orders for dispatch
  • \n
  • Checking incoming deliveries and ensuring stock is stored correctly
  • \n
  • Serving customers and assisting with trade counter enquiries
  • \n
  • Supporting operational activities across both the office and stores environment
  • \n
  • Assisting management with general operational duties and projects as required
  • \n

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • \n
  • Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems
  • \n
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and data entry systems
  • \n
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • \n
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • \n
  • Comfortable working in both an office and stores/warehouse environment
  • \n
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and priorities
  • \n
  • Willingness to learn technical products, terminology and processes
  • \n
  • A practical, hands-on attitude
  • \n
  • Previous experience in administration, operations, customer service, stores or warehouse environments would be advantageous
  • \n
