Quantity Surveyor

\n The type of role I recruit for
\n Overall commercial management of one or more construction schemes, typically covering:
\n Commercial support to site and project management teams
\n Monitoring and updating project costs - reviewing monthly financial forecasts against actual costs
\n Subcontractor procurement and management from inception through to completion
\n Valuation, certification and approval of subcontractor payments
\n Guidance to operational teams on cost estimation and contract requirements
\n Reporting directly to clients and senior management
\n Presenting valuation reports and cost estimates
\n Tendering and negotiating contracts
\n Estimating target costs and budget prices
\n Preparing lump sum bids and compiling enquiry documents for competitive bidding on a favourable bid, preparing tender and contract documents including bills of quantities
\n Contributing to the training and development of Apprentice, Trainee and Assistant Quantity Surveyors
\n What clients typically look for
\n HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent - essential
\n Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent - desirable
\n Minimum 5 years working as a Quantity Surveyor with a good working knowledge of construction processes - essential
\n Experience across a range of contract forms (JCT, NEC or sector-specific equivalent)
\n Clear understanding of contractual terms and conditions, both main contract and subcontract
\n Proficient in the use of MS Office
\n Valid UK driving licence
\n Valid CSCS card
\n Packages vary between clients, but typically include a competitive salary, car or car allowance, annual bonus, generous holiday allowance, contributory pension scheme and life assurance.
