Purpose of Post
\nThe Financial Controller –will lead the day-to-day financial control, operational reporting, and management accounting for our clients manufacturing operations. Supporting executive stakeholders and operational leaders, this role acts as a primary business partner to manufacturing, supply chain, and quality functions. The successful candidate will oversee Bill of Materials (BOM) variance analysis, build intelligent reporting frameworks, drive process efficiencies, and maintain a robust control environment across multiple vehicle production platforms.
\nKey Tasks & Responsibilities
\nFinancial Reporting & Control

- Lead financial reporting and core control activities for manufacturing and operations divisions. \n
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, delivering timely and accurate management accounts. \n
- Streamline post-ERP financial reporting workflows to ensure maximum transactional transparency and reduced reporting turnaround times. \n
- Maintain and continuously refine the internal control framework, ensuring data integrity and compliance across all financial outputs. \n
Operational Costing & BOM Analysis

- Oversee analysis across production platforms, monitoring standard costs against actuals. \n
- Provide detailed variance analysis explaining differences driven by internal factors (production efficiency, scrap, labour) and external factors (supply chain costs, raw materials). \n
- Review standard vehicle assembly and build processes to identify cost savings and drive operational performance improvements. \n
Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering

- Deliver the annual operating budget and rolling quarterly forecasts for manufacturing operations. \n
- Act as a key Finance Business Partner to Executive Directors and operational leads across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Quality. \n
- Management of external logistics and operational supplier contracts to ensure financial control and value for money. \n
KPI Development & Intelligent Reporting

- Design, implement, and standardise company-wide weekly management reporting packs and operational KPI dashboards to enable real-time performance tracking. \n
- Provide clear financial visibility and executive-level presentation materials to support strategic operational decision-making. \n
Team Leadership & Development

- Directly supervise and mentor Management Accountants and finance staff, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring accurate deliverables. \n
- Provide day-to-day guidance, workload prioritization, and professional development support for the team. \n
Person Specification & Qualifications
\nQualifications & Training
\n- \n
- Fully qualified accountant (or equivalent). \n
- Prince2 Foundation, project management, or leadership/coaching qualifications are desirable. \n
Experience & Technical Skills
\n- \n
- Proven track record as a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Business Partner, or Senior Management Accountant within a complex manufacturing or operations environment. \n
- Strong technical background with advanced MS Excel skills and hands-on experience utilizing enterprise ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Epicor, Cognos). \n
