\nVIQU has partnered with a leading UK retail organisation to recruit a Lead Frontend Developer to join a high-performing eCommerce engineering team. This is an opportunity to shape the technical direction of a customer-facing platform used by millions of users worldwide while remaining hands-on with modern frontend technologies.
\nThis is a technical leadership role rather than a people management position. You'll guide engineering standards, coordinate technical delivery, review code and mentor developers while continuing to contribute to the design and development of scalable frontend solutions.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across frontend development using React, TypeScript, Node.js and Material UI. \n
- Coordinate engineering workload and help the team deliver against the product roadmap. \n
- Define and maintain engineering standards covering architecture, code quality, testing, performance and accessibility. \n
- Lead code reviews and technical design discussions for scalable, high-performance solutions. \n
- Mentor and coach developers, raising technical capability across the team. \n
- Work closely with the Delivery Manager and key stakeholders to manage technical priorities, risks and dependencies. \n
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes, tooling and development practices. \n
- Support production systems and participate in an on-call rota during peak trading periods. \n

Key Requirements\n- \n
- Extensive commercial experience with React and TypeScript. \n
- Strong Node.js experience supporting high-performance, customer-facing web applications. \n
- Previous technical leadership experience, including setting standards, reviewing code and leading technical delivery. \n
- Strong understanding of frontend architecture, responsive design and UI performance optimisation. \n
- Experience delivering complex features whilst remaining hands-on in development. \n
- Ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders. \n
- Proven experience mentoring developers and improving engineering capability. \n
- Experience working on large-scale eCommerce or other high-traffic public-facing platforms is highly desirable. \n

- Salary of £63,825 - £72,618. \n
