Electrical Commissioning Technician Job SummaryThe Electrical Commissioning Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, starting up, troubleshooting, and commissioning low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment and power distribution systems.This position supports installation verification, pre-functional testing, point-to-point checks, functional performance testing, energization, deficiency resolution, and final project turnover. Extensive travel, overtime, weekend work, and overnight stays may be required. Job Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Location: As Assigned Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Inspect, test, start up, troubleshoot, and commission low- and medium-voltage electrical systems. \n
- Commission switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, generator controls, transfer switches, power meters, protective relays, and load banks. \n
- Perform point-to-point checks, continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, phase verification, and control-circuit testing. \n
- Verify equipment installation, grounding, torque, labeling, wiring, and terminations. \n
- Test alarms, interlocks, trip circuits, controls, communication points, and sequences of operation. \n
- Support energization, emergency power testing, transfer testing, and integrated systems testing. \n
- Read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical specifications. \n
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment, wiring, programming, and installation deficiencies. \n
- Maintain commissioning checklists, test reports, deficiency logs, daily reports, and closeout documentation. \n
- Coordinate with engineers, electricians, manufacturers, project teams, and customers to resolve deficiencies. \n
- Follow all company, customer, and site-specific safety procedures. \n
Required Skills and Abilities
\n- \n
- Knowledge of electrical commissioning, startup, testing, and troubleshooting. \n
- Experience with low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, breakers, generators, transfer switches, and control systems. \n
- Ability to use multimeters, insulation resistance testers, ammeters, phase-rotation meters, and other electrical testing equipment. \n
- Ability to read electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, control drawings, and sequences of operation. \n
- Knowledge of control wiring, alarms, interlocks, trip circuits, protective relays, and power-system controls. \n
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills. \n
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field commissioning team. \n
- Willingness to travel extensively and work overtime, weekends, and overnight assignments. \n
Education and Experience
\n- \n
- High school diploma or GED required. \n
- Technical training or electrical apprenticeship preferred. \n
- Three or more years of electrical industry experience. \n
- Three or more years of hands-on experience testing or commissioning low- and medium-voltage electrical equipment. \n
- Valid driver’s license. \n
Physical Requirements
\n- \n
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. \n
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, climb, crouch, and work in confined areas. \n
- Ability to work around energized equipment, loud machinery, construction activities, and changing weather conditions. \n
- Ability to work at heights and navigate ladders, uneven surfaces, equipment rooms, and elevated platforms. \n
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow electrical safety procedures. \n
