Vehicle Conversion Operative We are currently recruiting a Vehicle Conversion Operative to join a well-established vehicle conversion and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical skills who is looking for a permanent position with regular overtime, full training, and long-term career development. Location: Greater Manchester Salary: £15.00 per hour Overtime: Paid at x1.5 Role Type: Permanent – Right to Work in the UK required Hours: Monday – Thursday: 7:00am – 4:15pm Friday: 7:00am – 12:00pm About the Role As a Vehicle Conversion Operative, you will be responsible for converting commercial vehicles by welding vehicles' parts, installing a wide range of interior fittings, accessories, and specialist equipment. Working within a skilled production team, you'll help produce high-quality vehicle conversions while maintaining excellent workmanship, safety standards, and attention to detail. Full training will be provided, allowing you to develop your skills across a variety of vehicle conversion projects, from basic ply lining to the installation of electrical accessories, security systems, shelving, and specialist vehicle equipment. Key Responsibilities Basic welding tacking/connecting parts level Install ply lining using plywood, GRP linings, carpeting, chequer plate and lightweight materials Fit shelving, storage systems and modular vehicle equipment Install roof racks, ladder racks, pipe carriers and roof systems Install vehicle lighting, beacons, lightbars and 12V electrical accessories Fit vehicle security systems including deadlocks, slam locks and armour locks Install reversing cameras, parking sensors and alarm systems Assist with seat conversions, towbars and rear steps Install ventilation systems, heaters and air conditioning components Carry out window installations and vehicle finishing work Read and follow technical drawings and work instructions Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently Carry out quality checks throughout the assembly process Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment Work towards production targets while maintaining high quality standards What We're Looking For Previous experience in vehicle conversions is highly desirable Experience in welding is a must Good practical skills and excellent attention to detail Ability to use hand and power tools confidently Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Conversational English (minimum 5/10) is required What We Offer Permanent full-time position Regular overtime opportunities paid at enhanced rates Company pension Christmas shutdown Additional annual leave after long service: 2 extra days after 5 years' service 3 additional days after 10 years' service Modern manufacturing environment All tools and PPE provided (excluding safety boots) Full training across multiple vehicle conversion disciplines Long-term career progression and development opportunities Good public transport links Using our bespoke Recruit and Relocate solution, Workforce can support candidates willing to relocate by assisting with accommodation sourcing and helping you settle into the area smoothly.
