About the Role\n

The Lead FEM Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to take a central role in developing Finite Element Modelling solutions. As a Lead FEM Engineer, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the development of GFEM and DFEM projects across multiple programmes
  • \n
  • Analyse and validate FE and stress data, proposing design solutions optimised for weight, cost, performance, and manufacturing requirements
  • \n
  • Deliver static and fatigue ennoblement to Wing design teams
  • \n
  • Drive digital solutions to enhance Wing structure ennoblement processes
  • \n
  • Act as a focal point for FE and digital activities, defining priorities and highlighting risks
  • \n
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the team
  • \n
  • Interface with key stakeholders across transnational teams
  • \n
What We're Looking For\n

To excel in this Lead FEM Engineer role, candidates should possess:

  • Degree-level education in Aerospace Engineering
  • \n
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in finite element modelling
  • \n
  • Proven expertise with FEM tools including Hyperworks, Hypermesh, and MSC Nastran
  • \n
  • Experience idealising Wing component structures using Finite Element Methodology
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of airworthiness requirements and Airbus policies
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • \n
  • Fluent English at negotiation level (written and verbal)
  • \n
  • A proactive, dynamic approach with strong problem-solving abilities
  • \n
\n

Advantageous: FEM Signature delegation, ISAMI competency, and experience with UNIX-based platforms.

  • Location: Filton

  • Position Type: Lead FEM Engineer (Contract)
  • \n
  • Hours: 35 hours per week (4.5 days, flexible between 7am-7pm)
  • \n
  • On-Site: 80% onsite
  • \n
  • Provisional End Date: 01 March 2027 (with probable extension)
  • \n
  • Security Clearance: BPSS+ (to be completed by company security)
  • \n
  • Pay Rate: £46.00 per hour (Umbrella) / £34.39 per hour (PAYE)
  • \n
  • Travel: Occasional
  • \n
  • IR35 Status: Off-payroll working rules apply
