\nLocation: Edinburgh, Scotland
\nWorking arrangement: Hybrid
\nReporting to: Practice Manager
\nAkkodis is seeking an experienced Technical Author to join our growing engineering team in Edinburgh. You will create, manage and deliver high-quality technical documentation for complex defence and engineering programmes.
\nThe Role
\nYou will:
\n- \n
- Develop, edit and publish technical manuals, data modules, test reports, qualification evidence and supporting documentation. \n
- Use Teamcenter Unified (TCU) to manage document structures, metadata, version control and configuration baselines. \n
- Maintain accurate and consistent documentation across multiple product variants and development phases. \n
- Work closely with engineering, design, systems and support teams to capture and communicate complex technical information. \n
- Support document change management and configuration control through TCU workflows. \n
- Ensure deliverables meet contractual requirements, programme schedules and quality standards. \n
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve publication queries. \n
- Support improvements and automation across technical publishing processes. \n
Required Experience
\n- \n
- Proven Technical Author or Technical Publisher experience within defence, aerospace, radar or another complex engineering environment. \n
- Hands-on experience using Teamcenter Unified for PLM and technical publishing. \n
- Experience using DOORS for requirements updates and compliance assessments. \n
- Knowledge of relevant defence publication standards, including DEF STAN 00-600 and MIL-STD-40051. \n
- Experience in configuration management, document control and versioning within PLM systems. \n
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and XML/SGML editing tools. \n

- Excellent technical writing and editing skills. \n
- Strong attention to detail and document accuracy. \n
- Ability to translate complex engineering information into clear technical documentation. \n
- Confidence working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders. \n
Education
\nA bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent qualification is desirable.
