The Camrose Centre are a charity who, since 2008, have been supporting the vulnerably housed and homeless across Basingstoke and Deane by providing compassionate, practical support and a genuine sense of belonging.

The Chair of the Board will lead the governance, strategic direction and organisational development of the charity as it enters a period of growth, expanding operations to six days a week. You will work closely with the Centre Manager and trustees to ensure the organisation is mission‑focused, well‑governed and able to deliver high‑quality support to the community.

Roles & responsibilities (includes but not limited to):

  • Lead the Board to set, refine and deliver the charity’s strategic priorities.
  • \n
  • Ensure the organisation remains focused on its mission and manages risk effectively.
  • \n
  • Champion organisational development and support expansion to six‑day operations.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with charity law, company law and regulatory requirements.
  • \n
  • Maintain strong governance processes, clear delegation and effective decision‑making.
  • \n
  • Provide regular supervision, guidance and support to the Centre Manager.
  • \n
  • Build a cohesive, motivated Board with shared purpose and accountability.
  • \n
  • Model inclusive, compassionate leadership aligned with the charity’s values.
  • \n
  • Act as an ambassador across Basingstoke and Deane, strengthening relationships with partners, funders, faith groups, businesses and community organisations.

  • Mobilise trustees and volunteers behind key strategic initiatives, ensuring momentum and delivery.
  • \n
  • Support the Centre Manager and Project Lead to implement the new organisational strategy.

Essential Experience

\n


\n
    \n
  • Prior experience as a charity trustee, Chair or senior board member.
  • \n
  • Demonstrable leadership mobilising teams, volunteers or boards.
  • \n
  • Experience guiding organisations through change, growth or strategic projects.
  • \n
\n

***Please note this is a voluntary position, and will require circa 1 day a week***
