\nMRD Recruitment is working on behalf of our client to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a permanent opportunity based at the Port of Greenock.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join a skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining heavy industrial plant and machinery that supports critical port operations. The Mechanical fitter role offers long-term career development, ongoing technical training and the opportunity to work on a diverse range of heavy diesel and mechanical equipment.
The opportunity\nAs a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs across a range of heavy diesel plant and industrial machinery. You'll play a key role in ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant and fully operational, while helping minimise downtime through effective fault finding, diagnostics and timely repairs.
What you'll be doing\n- \n
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on heavy diesel plant and machinery \n
- Diagnosing mechanical faults using specialist diagnostic and testing equipment \n
- Responding quickly to equipment failures to minimise operational disruption \n
- Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems \n
- Ensuring all maintenance work complies with current legislation and safety standards \n
- Supporting equipment reliability and operational performance \n
- Working safely within permit-to-work systems and engineering procedures \n
- Developing multi-skilled mechanical and electrical engineering capabilities \n
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter with a background in heavy diesel plant, heavy industrial machinery or similar mechanical maintenance environments. You should have:

- Experience maintaining heavy diesel plant and industrial equipment \n
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills \n
- A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems \n
- Experience working in a busy, safety-critical environment \n
- A proactive approach to maintenance and problem solving \n
- A strong commitment to health and safety standards \n
You'll also need to be willing to:
