Job Description
A London Local Authority is currently recruiting for 2 Environmental Health & Enforcement Officers positions to join their Regulatory Services team for a 6 month initial contract.
\nThe roles will be offered mostly remote, with site inspections and stakeholder engagement required across the borough. These roles will be offered for £35 - £50 p/m umbrella depending on experience.

\nWe are recruiting for:

- Environmental Health & Enforcement Officer (CIEH Registered) to join the Food & Health and Safety Team, covering Food Safety, Health & Safety and Infectious Disease Control. Applicants must have current experience of food safety and health & safety enforcement. \n
- Environmental Health & Enforcement Officer to join the Health & Safety Enforcement Team, with a focus on health & safety enforcement activities. Applicants must have current experience within a health & safety enforcement environment. \n
The Roles
\nAs an Environmental Health & Enforcement Officer, you will:
\n- \n
- Undertake inspections, investigations, audits and enforcement activities across your specialist area \n
- Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Health & Safety legislation, taking enforcement action where necessary \n
- Investigate complaints, service requests and public health concerns, gathering evidence and preparing detailed reports \n
- Exercise statutory powers including inspections, notices, seizures and other enforcement interventions \n
- Prepare cases for legal proceedings, including witness statements, evidence packs and attendance at court or tribunals \n
- Provide professional advice and guidance to businesses, residents and stakeholders \n
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure statutory deadlines and service standards are met \n
- Manage a varied and demanding caseload while delivering high-quality customer service \n
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to promote public health and regulatory compliance \n
About You
\nYou will be an experienced Environmental Health or Enforcement professional with:
\n- \n
- A relevant qualification in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a related discipline \n
- Strong knowledge of Environmental Health and/or Health & Safety legislation \n
- Experience undertaking inspections, investigations and enforcement activities \n
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills \n
- Strong report writing, case management and organisational abilities \n
- The ability to make sound decisions and manage competing priorities effectively \n
Additional Requirements
\nFood & Health and Safety Team
\n- \n
- Current registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) \n
- Recent experience carrying out Food Safety inspections and enforcement \n
- Experience within Health & Safety enforcement \n
- Knowledge of Infectious Disease Control processes \n
Health & Safety Enforcement Team
\n- \n
- Current experience within a Health & Safety enforcement role \n
- Experience undertaking inspections, investigations and enforcement action in accordance with relevant legislation \n
Desirable Experience
\n- \n
- Previous Local Authority Environmental Health experience \n
- Experience preparing evidence and supporting legal proceedings or prosecutions \n
- Experience working within a highly regulated enforcement environment \n
- Experience leading projects, service improvements or mentoring colleagues \n
