The Role
\nWe are seeking an analytical and proactive Brokerage Operations Specialist to support the efficient and accurate processing of brokerage operations activities across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, derivatives and metals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, identifying operational gaps and implementing practical improvements that enhance controls and efficiency.

\nMain Duties & Responsibilities
\nOperational Processing
\n- \n
- Manage trade bookings, settlements, cash movements, reconciliations and client account maintenance, including SSIs, P&L reporting and month-end processes. \n
- Investigate and resolve operational exceptions, breaks and discrepancies. \n
- Liaise with counterparties, custodians and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely resolution of issues. \n
Problem Solving & Investigation
\n- \n
- Analyse operational issues to identify root causes rather than treating symptoms. \n
- Independently investigate queries and exceptions, proposing practical solutions. \n
- Escalate risks appropriately while providing recommendations for resolution. \n
- Apply logical thinking and sound judgement when dealing with unusual transactions or operational challenges. \n
Process Improvement

- Continuously assess existing processes to identify inefficiencies, risks and control gaps. \n
- Challenge established ways of working and recommend improvements. \n
- Design and implement process enhancements that reduce manual intervention, improve accuracy and strengthen controls. \n
- Document procedures and contribute to operational best practices. \n
- Participate in automation and system-enhancement initiatives. \n
Skills & Experience
\n- \n
- At least five years’ experience in a comparable operations role, preferably with an equities focus. \n
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of the settlement lifecycle in global markets. \n
- Experience in conversions, realignments, borrows and financing is a distinct advantage. \n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. \n
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of issues through to resolution. \n
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. \n
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills. \n
- Ability to identify process weaknesses and recommend practical improvements. \n
- Confidence using Excel and operational systems. \n
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. \n
- Professional-level written and spoken English. \n
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to partner effectively with relevant internal and external stakeholders. \n
Education
\n- \n
- Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant subject. \n
- CISI qualified to a minimum of Foundation Level—UK Financial Regulation. \n
- CISI CF30 Registered status would be desirable. \n
