Role Description The Head of Paddlesport / Operations is a full-time, on-site role based in Godalming, United Kingdom. This role oversees daily paddlesport activities, including planning sessions, allocating instructors, monitoring safety standards, and ensuring a high-quality participant experience. The position involves managing operations for both river sites, holiday clubs and events, coordinating schedules, and maintaining equipment and facilities. The Head of Paddlesport / Operations leads and supports the coaching team, implements operational processes, and collaborates with leadership on budgeting, resource planning, and program development. The role also requires liaising with clients and partners, handling operational issues in real time, and contributing to the continuous improvement of Roar Outdoor’s services.

Qualifications

  • Strong operations management skills, including planning, organizing, and optimizing paddlesport and outdoor activity programs.

  • Analytical skills to interpret data, assess performance, and make informed decisions that improve efficiency and safety.
  • \n
  • Team management and leadership abilities to recruit, train, motivate, and support coaching and operations staff.
  • \n
  • Clear and effective communication skills for interacting with participants, staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Budgeting and basic financial management skills to manage costs, resources, and operational budgets responsibly.
  • \n
  • Relevant NGB qualifications (e.g., PSL , RCI/CWI , D1 + E , Archery GB ) and strong on-water competence.
  • \n
  • Proven experience in outdoor education, adventure sports, or recreational operations management.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, risk management, and inclusive practice in outdoor environments.
  • \n
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and peak season periods, as required by operational demands.

Remuneration - £30/45k dependant on experiance
