\nThis is a rare opportunity to play a key role in shaping the College's financial future, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring long-term financial sustainability across the College and its associated organisations.
\nThe Opportunity
\nReporting to the Head of Finance, the Financial Controller will lead the College's financial accounting function and provide oversight of statutory reporting, treasury management, taxation, financial controls and management accounting activities.
\nKey responsibilities include:
\n- \n
- Leading the preparation of annual statutory financial statements \n
- Producing timely and accurate management accounts and financial reports. \n
- Managing cash flow forecasting and treasury activities. \n
- Overseeing VAT, taxation compliance and HMRC liaison. \n
- Supporting annual budget setting, forecasting and long-term financial planning. \n
- Acting as a key contact for internal, external and funding body auditors. \n
- Driving robust financial controls, governance and continuous improvement initiatives. \n
- Leading and developing the operational finance team. \n
- Building strong relationships across the College and supporting managers through effective business partnering. \n
About You
\nWe are seeking a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to influence and collaborate across a complex organisation.
\nYou will bring:
\n- \n
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified status, or be a finalist accountant. \n
- Proven experience of producing statutory accounts, financial statements and month-end/year-end reporting. \n
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial planning experience. \n
- Experience managing detailed cash flow and treasury activities. \n
- Knowledge of taxation, VAT and regulatory compliance. \n
- Excellent communication, analytical and stakeholder management skills. \n
- A proactive and continuous improvement mindset. \n
- Experience within education, public sector or regulated environments would be advantageous but is not essential. \n
