Wigan (2 days per week) | £400–£450 per day (Inside IR35) | 3-Month Interim Contract

I’m currently partnering with a well-established UK organisation to appoint an Interim Employee Relations Lead to provide hands-on support during a busy period of increased and complex ER activity.

\n


\n

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ER professional who enjoys leading from the front, partnering with senior stakeholders, and supporting HR teams through challenging employee relations matters.

\n

The Opportunity

\n

You’ll act as the senior point of escalation for complex ER cases while providing guidance and coaching to an established ER team. Working closely with HR Business Partners and business leaders, you’ll help identify issues early, support mediation where appropriate, and ensure high-quality, commercially focused ER advice is delivered across the business.

\n

Alongside case management, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to employment policy, best practice, and wider HR change initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex employee relations cases from start to finish.
  • \n
  • Act as the first point of escalation for challenging ER matters.
  • \n
  • Coach and support the existing ER team.
  • \n
  • Partner closely with HR Business Partners to triage and resolve issues early.
  • \n
  • Build strong relationships with senior business leaders across a predominantly field-based workforce.
  • \n
  • Provide confidence and support to managers navigating sensitive employee relations issues.
  • \n
  • Contribute to employment policy and HR best practice initiatives.

  • About You
  • \n
  • Proven experience leading complex employee relations cases.
  • \n
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior leaders.
  • \n
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on interim role.
  • \n
  • Experienced supporting HR teams and coaching managers through difficult situations.
  • \n
  • Background from any sector considered – previous union experience is not required.
  • \n
