Assistant Coach

\nType: Full-time (flexible hours, evenings & weekends required)
\nABOUT THE ROLE
\nWe are looking for an Assistant Coach that will play a key role in supporting the Head Coach in delivering a high-performance basketball programme competing at the highest level of British basketball.
\nWorking as part of the Coaching Team, the successful candidate will assist in all aspects of basketball operations including practice planning and delivery, player development, game preparation, scouting, video analysis and matchday coaching.
\nThe Assistant Coach will contribute to creating a professional, positive and accountable culture while helping players maximise their performance both individually and collectively.
\nThe role requires an organised, collaborative and highly motivated coach who is committed to excellence and capable of working within a fast-paced professional sporting environment.
\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
\nCoaching & Player Development (Approx. 40%)
\n- \n
- Assist in planning and delivering daily team practices. \n
- Lead individual and small-group player development sessions. \n
- Support the implementation of offensive and defensive systems. \n
- Deliver technical coaching to improve individual and team performance. \n
- Monitor player progression and contribute to individual development plans. \n
- Reinforce the team's culture, standards and behavioural expectations. \n
- Provide ongoing coaching feedback to players throughout the season. \n
Game Preparation & Performance Analysis (Approx. 25%)

- Assist with opposition scouting and game planning. \n
- Analyse opponent tendencies using video and statistical analysis. \n
- Prepare scouting reports and player briefing materials. \n
- Contribute tactical ideas during practice and game preparation. \n
- Assist with pre-game walkthroughs and post-game performance reviews. \n
- Support in-game coaching, adjustments and communication from the bench. \n
Basketball Operations (Approx. 20%)
\n- \n
- Assist in the day-to-day delivery of basketball operations. \n
- Work collaboratively with the Head Coach to plan training schedules. \n
- Support player evaluations and recruitment discussions. \n
- Assist in maintaining coaching resources and performance databases. \n
- Help organise training equipment and basketball operations as required. \n
- Ensure all basketball activities are delivered safely and professionally. \n
Performance Team Collaboration (Approx. 10%)
\n- \n
- Work closely with the Strength & Conditioning Coach regarding player workloads. \n
- Collaborate with the Physiotherapist to support player welfare and return-to-play programmes. \n
- Liaise with the Team Manager regarding travel, training logistics and matchday requirements. \n
- Promote effective communication across the Performance Team. \n
Club Representation (Approx. 5%)
\n- \n
- Represent the organisation professionally at all times. \n
- Support community engagement activities, promotional events and sponsor commitments where required. \n
- Act as a positive ambassador for the organisation within the basketball community. \n
PERSON SPECIFICATION
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Experience coaching basketball within a high-performance, collegiate, academy or professional environment. \n
- Excellent understanding of modern basketball tactics and player development. \n
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. \n
- Ability to build positive working relationships with players and staff. \n
- Excellent organisational and planning skills. \n
- High attention to detail. \n
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel extensively throughout the season. \n
Desirable

- Experience coaching within a professional basketball environment. \n
- Experience in video analysis and scouting. \n
- Experience recruiting and evaluating players. \n
- International coaching experience. \n
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary performance environment. \n
QUALIFICATIONS
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Recognised basketball coaching qualification. \n
- Eligible to obtain a Basketball England coaching licence. \n
- Eligible to work in the United Kingdom or satisfy the requirements for sponsorship under the International Sportsperson visa route (where applicable). \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- FIBA coaching qualification. \n
- FIBA WABC certification. \n
- Additional coaching, leadership or performance-related qualifications. \n
