PROJECT QS BRIEF

\n

The Project Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of a major CAT A commercial fit-out project in Birmingham. This is a 70-week contract, with responsibility for managing the commercial aspects of the project from subcontract procurement through to final account.

Reporting Line

\n

The Project Quantity Surveyor will report directly to the Commercial Lead and work closely with the Operations Director and Project Manager and site team to ensure the successful commercial and operational delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day commercial activities of the project.
  • \n
  • Procure and manage subcontract packages, including tender enquiries, tender analysis and package awards.
  • \n
  • Administer subcontract accounts, including valuations, payment assessments, variations and final accounts.
  • \n
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts and CVRs for review with the Commercial Lead.
  • \n
  • Identify, value and agree variations with both the client and subcontractors.
  • \n
  • Monitor project costs, risks and opportunities, ensuring the project is delivered within budget.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • \n
  • Attend commercial and project meetings, providing regular commercial updates to the Commercial Lead, Operations Director, and Project Manager.

  • Support the Commercial Lead in the successful commercial delivery of the project.

Candidate Requirements

\n
    \n
  • Proven experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor, ideally within commercial fit-out (CAT A/CAT B).
  • \n
  • Experience independently managing the commercial delivery of projects from procurement through to final account.
  • \n
  • Strong knowledge of subcontract procurement, account management and cost reporting.
  • \n
  • Good understanding of JCT forms of contract.
  • \n
  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a project team while managing the day-to-day commercial function of the project.

Location

\n

The role will be based full-time on site in Birmingham. In addition, the Project Quantity Surveyor will be required to visit a second project in Leeds approximately one day every fortnight to provide commercial support.
