Sheet Metal Mechanic

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Sheet Metal Mechanics for projects located in or around Newport News, VA. This is a first shift opportunity, and the pay rate is up to $30/hour based on experience plus $140/per diem to Travelers 75+ miles from the Jobsite. Job Scope:

\n
• Install foundations, ventilation systems, bulkheads, and shipboard furniture
\n
• Perform sheet metal fabrication shop work
\n
• Read and interpret complex ventilation assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches
\n
• Lay out piece parts for fabrication and assembly
\n
• Assemble piece parts according to specifications
\n
• Use hand tools and shop equipment to complete assigned tasks
\n
• Maintain quality workmanship while adhering to all safety standards
\n

Requirements:

\n
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a First-Class Sheet Metal Worker
\n
• Experience with ventilation systems, foundations, bulkheads, shipboard furniture, and fabrication work
\n
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, material types, datum lines, and reference lines
\n
• Ability to work with fractional and decimal measurements using a ruler
\n
• Ability to lay out and assemble fabrication components
\n
• Experience working in a physically demanding environment
\n
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry
\n
• Experience using electric drills, grinders, rivet guns, drill presses, press brakes, shears, and other shop equipment
\n
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
\n
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
\n
• Must be able to pass a hair follicle drug test
\n
